The SmartTech Club of SIT Nagpur organized an engaging hands-on technical workshop titled "Build Your Own Radar" on 22nd September 2025. The session aimed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of Arduino programming, ultrasonic sensors, and servo motors, providing them with practical exposure to embedded systems and real-time data visualization.
During the workshop, students learned how to interface the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor with the Arduino Uno, capture real-time distance measurements, and visualize the scanned data using Arduino Processing software. Participants wrote code to read distance values and control a servo motor to rotate the sensor-simulating the scanning motion of an actual radar.
The live radar visualization on the screen demonstrated the seamless integration of electronics and programming, giving attendees a clear understanding of how hardware control and coding logic come together in modern embedded applications.
Conclusion
The Build Your Own Radar workshop proved to be an enriching and insightful experience for all participants. It successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, helping students gain hands-on experience in Arduino programming, sensor integration, and real-time data visualization. The event not only strengthened their understanding of embedded systems but also sparked curiosity and innovation in the fields of IoT and robotics. Overall, the workshop achieved its objective of fostering technical skills and inspiring students to explore advanced technology-driven projects in the future.
