Quality Improvement Cell (QIC)

Dr. Smita Singh (Nirkhi) currently serving as an associate professor at SIT Nagpur. She is a distinguished educationist and teacher, as well as a renowned software professional, researcher, and academician. She has been honored with numerous accolades for her significant contributions and achievements in education and research. Known for her commitment to quality, she is a dedicated team builder and natural motivator, exemplifying perseverance and integrity. Her excellent communication skills have been refined through extensive interactions at various professional levels.

With over 23 years of academic experience, Dr. Singh has published more than 60 research papers in refereed journals and conferences. She has played pivotal roles in organizing numerous international conferences as a general chair, including the International AI Summit, FDPs, workshops, summer internships, and expert lectures for students.

Her involvement extends to serving as a session chair, conference steering committee member, editorial board member, and reviewer for international and national IEEE journals and conferences. In 2020, she was nominated as a panel member judge for the Data Science Awards in four categories.

Dr. Singh has been invited as a resource person for short-term courses and training sessions, as well as a keynote speaker. She has published two books in the field of machine learning and has received a total funding of 20 lakhs from various government agencies, including AICTE and DST. Additionally, she serves as an IEEE WIE ambassador and an IEEE Day ambassador. Dr. Singh is currently serving as Secretary of IEEE Maharashtra Section, the chair of the System Council Chapter of IEEE Maharashtra Section and the chair of the AI for All Group of the Maharashtra Section.

Description of the QIC

The Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) at SIT Nagpur is an institutional body formed to plan, guide, and monitor quality assurance and enhancement activities across the institute. It functions as a central mechanism to ensure that academic and administrative processes continuously improve in line with quality standards and institutional goals.


Objectives of QIC

  • To embed a culture of quality and continuous improvement in all academic and administrative activities of the institute.
  • To develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance mechanisms that enhance teaching, learning, research, and governance.
  • To systematically review institutional processes and recommend corrective and preventive measures for sustained excellence.
  • To formulate and standardize quality policies, procedures, and best practices across departments and support units.
  • To facilitate data-driven decision-making through effective documentation, analysis, and reporting of quality indicators.
  • To To coordinate and support accreditation, ranking, and benchmarking initiatives in alignment with national and international quality frameworks. in alignment with national and international quality frameworks.
  • To encourage innovation, stakeholder participation, and feedback mechanisms for holistic institutional development.

Faculty Development Program on Outcome-Based Education & Accreditation

Date: 3rd March to 7th March 2025

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur, in collaboration with the Symbiosis Teaching and Learning Resource Centre (SIU) and NITTTR Chandigarh, organized a five-day Faculty Development Program on Outcome-Based Education & Accreditation. This initiative aimed to equip faculty members with student-centric teaching methodologies, effective curriculum design, and robust assessment techniques aligned with NBA and NAAC accreditation frameworks, enhancing the overall quality of education.

Description of the QIC

The Quality Improvement Cell is established for planning, guiding, and monitoring the quality assurance and enhancement activities of the institute.

Objectives of QIC:

  • To improve academic and administrative excellence by institutionalizing a culture of quality.
  • To promote and implement quality improvement measures in the key performance areas through planned interventions and strategies.
