The Sports Council of Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur, functions under the able guidance of Dr. Purushottam Shobhane (Faculty In-Charge) and Prof. Rohit Pawar (Faculty Co-In-Charge) in co-ordination with Department of Sports Recreation and Wellness, Nagpur.

The Council serves as a platform for fostering physical well-being, competitive spirit, and team collaboration among students. It is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of sports activities, events, and tournaments throughout the academic year. By encouraging participation in both recreational and competitive sports, the Council helps build resilience, leadership, and a sense of community within the student body.

Student members of the Sports Council play a crucial role in executing its vision. Representing various sports clubs and departments, they coordinate training sessions, manage events, and ensure smooth participation in inter-collegiate and national competitions. Their enthusiasm and commitment reflect the vibrant sporting ethos of the institute.

Under the mentorship of the faculty in-charges, the Council operates with a strong focus on inclusivity, discipline, and personal growth. The faculty members provide continuous support, strategic direction, and mentorship, ensuring that students not only excel in sports but also develop essential life skills through their experiences.

Sports Spectra 2.0

Sports Spectra, held on October 21 and 22 at SIT Nagpur, was a power-packed two-day sports extravaganza that brought the campus alive with energy, excitement, and unbreakable team spirit. From intense basketball showdowns to fast-paced futsal, adrenaline-fueled dodgeball, and the sheer strength of tug of war, the event featured six competitive sports that catered to every kind of athlete. What truly set this festival apart was its strong focus on inclusivity, with mixed-gender matches in volleyball, badminton, and tug of war fostering collaboration, mutual respect, and unity among students. The event’s smooth execution—complete with a thoughtfully planned schedule, refreshment breaks, and a vibrant closing ceremony—made it an unforgettable experience not just for the players, but also for the cheering crowds. Sports Spectra wasn’t just a celebration of athleticism—it was a celebration of community, passion, and the unstoppable spirit of SIT Nagpur.

Organized by the Sports Club and Council of SIT Nagpur, the event drew sharp, passionate players who showcased exceptional focus and tactical brilliance. More than just a competition, it offered a refreshing and intellectually enriching break from academics, sparking critical thinking in a spirited atmosphere. With enthusiastic participation and seamless coordination, thanks to the unwavering support of faculty and administrative heads, SIT Shatranj proved to be a memorable celebration of mental agility and competitive camaraderie.

Intra-Campus Staff Friendly Tennis Cricket Matches

The Intra-Campus Faculty Staff Friendly Cricket Matches were organized by the Department of Sports, Recreation, and Wellness (DSRW) Nagpur in collaboration with SIT Nagpur on April 25, 2025, at the SIU Nagpur campus. Aimed at promoting fitness, stress relief, and camaraderie among faculty members, the event featured five teams representing various Symbiosis institutions. Played in a league-cum-knockout format with mandatory female participation, the matches fostered inclusivity, team bonding, and a spirit of healthy competition. SIT Nagpur, captained by (Prof.) Dr. Nitin Rakesh, emerged victorious after a spirited final against SCMS. Mr. Ankush and Mrs. Minal from SIT were recognized as Player and Woman of the Tournament, respectively. The event concluded with a lively prize distribution ceremony, celebrating sportsmanship, unity, and community engagement across the campus.
